Build my Miami tripWhen to go
December through April is the dry season, with warm days and lower humidity — and the busiest, priciest time. Summer is hot with afternoon storms. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, so check the forecast and pick refundable bookings for those months.
Getting there and around
Fly into Miami International (MIA), about 20–30 minutes by car from South Beach without traffic. Fort Lauderdale (FLL) is about 45 minutes north and sometimes has cheaper flights. South Beach is walkable. Rideshare is the easiest way between Miami Beach, Wynwood, Little Havana and Brickell. The free Metromover loops around Downtown and Brickell.
Where to stay
- South Beach — on the sand, near the Art Deco district and nightlife. Best for a first visit.
- Brickell — high-rise hotels, rooftop bars and restaurants, close to Downtown.
- Wynwood — street art, galleries and breweries; lively, a drive from the beach.
What to do

Art Deco Historic District
South Beach
Pastel 1930s buildings along Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue. Walk it in the morning before the heat.

Wynwood Walls
Wynwood
Outdoor museum of large murals by artists from around the world, surrounded by blocks of street art.

Little Havana and Calle Ocho
SW 8th Street
Cuban coffee windows, cigar shops, and dominoes at Máximo Gómez Park.

Biscayne Bay by boat
Bayside / Miami Beach
A sunset cruise or boat day shows off the skyline and the islands.

Everglades airboat ride
About an hour west
Glide through sawgrass and look for alligators and wading birds.

Live salsa at Ball & Chain
Little Havana
A historic Calle Ocho bar with live Latin music most nights.
A simple weekend plan
Friday
- Land, check in, beach until sunset.
- Dinner in South Beach, then a walk down Ocean Drive.
Saturday
- Morning walk through the Art Deco district.
- Afternoon in Wynwood for murals and lunch.
- Sunset on Biscayne Bay; salsa in Little Havana after dark.
Sunday
- Cuban coffee and breakfast on Calle Ocho.
- Everglades airboat ride or one last beach morning before your flight.
Good to know
- Bring strong sunscreen and water; the sun is intense year-round.
- Many Miami Beach hotels add a resort fee — Jaunt shows it in the total before you pay.
- Hotel parking in South Beach is expensive; you often don't need a rental car.
